The rhythmic sound of the stream in Sattal was broken only by the sudden flash of black and white wings — and there it was, the Crested Kingfisher, proudly perched above the water. Known for its dramatic crest and bold presence, this kingfisher is not easily spotted. I was lucky in 2025 to witness and capture this magnificent bird in action. A true jewel of the Himalayan foothills!
