The calm waters of Kodi, a small beach near Kundapur, sparkled in the soft glow of dawn. Our birding group began early from the mangroves, eager to explore this hidden paradise where countless migratory birds and waders visit every season.

We hired a small fishing boat, guided by a humble boatman named Narayana. He knew nothing about bird photography or the names of the species — he knew only the rhythm of the waves and the secrets of the sea breeze.
