In the lush green hills of Lathchapper, West Bengal, the morning mist drifted like silk through the forest. Alongside my birding friend Debpratim Shah, I followed the melody of unseen wings and the whisper of the wind through bamboo leaves.
Then, in a beam of soft sunlight, the forest offered its jewel — the Common Green Magpie. Its emerald feathers glowed against the dark woods, eyes bright with curiosity, and tail gliding like a ribbon of light.
We watched in silent awe as it called out softly, vanishing back into the emerald shade. This fleeting moment stayed within — a reminder that nature's beauty often reveals itself in silence, just long enough to touch the soul.
